In the Monte Rosa area you'll find the biggest gathering of 4000 meter peaks in the entire alps. The peaks of Dufour (4634m), Nordend (4609m), Zumstein (4563m) and Punta Gnifetti (4559m) are all in the Alpine top-5. Only Mont Blanc (4810m) is higher.

In July 2003 I made a nice glacier tour together with some old rowing mates. Starting from Rifugio Teodulo, high above Zermatt on the Swiss-Italian border, we went al the way to the Rifugio Regina Margherita, on the way climbing - amongst others - the summits of Breithorn (4165m), Castor (4226m), Pyr. Vincent (4205m) and Punta Gnifetti (4559m).
