The Gran Paradiso National Park includes a large territory of high mountains, from the 800 meters of the bottom of the valleys to the 4.061 meters of the Gran Paradiso peak. Larch and fir woods, wide alpine grasslands, rocks, and glaciers make up an ideal scenery for the discovery of the eldest of Italy's national parks.
This section is containing two trekkings. The 2006 trekking is starting in Valgrisenche and ending in the village of Pont in Valsavarenche, and includes the ascent of the Gran Paradiso. The 2003 trekking is starting in the valley of Cogne in the east part of the National Park, and is leading towards the west, covering the valleys of Valsavarenche, Rhemes Notre Dame and Valgrisenche.
